The Stormy Seas of Ill-Concieved Querying with Jennie Goloboy Part 2

The Email Attachment Quandary

Today I want to talk about one of my pet peeves: unrequested attachments. I have received several query letters that consist of one line:

“Please read the attached query letter.”

And then there is an attached file.

Do I open it? Do I infect my poor little computer with 157 horrible viruses unknown to Norton?

Or do I just send a form rejection letter?

Go on, guess.

I feel a little bad that there is some poor soul out there wondering why no one ever responds positively to his query letter– but I’d feel worse if I spent all day hanging out with the Geek Squad.

PS I don’t read unrequested chapters or open unrequested book covers either. Life’s too short.
