New Agent at Red Sofa – Meet Anne Tibbets!

By Dawn Frederick

I have often said I don’t believe in coincidences.  Sometimes we get to meet a person in one setting – for whatever reason it may be – only to realize much later that it played a bigger role than initially anticipated.  This has happened more times than I can count on both hands in our little world of publishing. It’s a community I’m proud to have the opportunity to participate in.

A few years ago, I had the delight of Anne Tibbets being one of our authors at #teamredosfa – she was always a gem to interact with, as she was represented by someone else internally at our agency.  She always made me laugh, and her knowledge of writing, of publishing, stood out in the smallest of interactions.  I loved her directness, her fearlessness (as I’ve had to work hard at that myself too). Plus she is loved by many fellow writers, as she is a constant cheerleader on and off the pages.

So imagine my surprise when she dropped a note over the summer, where she shared a long-time interest in switching gears, taking her own experience and seeing other authors to publication. The goal was to become a literary agent.  Over the last few months, she did her homework on many other fronts, and really took the time to think about the steps around this type role.

It didn’t take much as we connected to realize she had an energy that not only meshes well with our agency, but an energy to give authors the advocacy they deserve.  So I’m thrilled to announce that she’ll be joining #teamredsofa in a new capacity, as an associate agent.  She’ll be diving into the waters in November, and during NaNoWriMo no less.

Congrats Anne!  Welcome to the Red Sofa!
